Laughter Is the Best Medicine

Since March, BATS Improv's @ Work program pivoted from in-person training, classes, and workshops to virtual gatherings. Over the past 7 months, we've noticed how our client's "asks" and needs have evolved through this unusual time.

At first, companies were finding their way through working from home and longed for ways to connect in a fun and lighthearted way. Reports flooded in, "I haven't laughed this hard since the quarantine began!"

As the virus persisted and the curve resisted flattening, teams and companies shifted to the kind of training we used to do in-person - leadership skill development and presentation skills - but with a "virtual" twist - how do we present ourselves on Zoom (and other networking platforms)? How do we listen actively and stay present when there are so many distractions around us?

As the fall arrived, BATS has been delighted to be expanding our offerings beyond our regional area - serving hospitals in Boston, connecting international sales teams through play, and even hosting virtual "Happy Hours" and fundraisers like one we did last week for the Campaign for Commercial-Free Childhood.

Last week, The Guardian reported that "Humour makes us more resilient, creative and resourceful – so is more important than ever during a pandemic."

If you think your team might benefit from some laughter, please contact our @ Work Sales team for more information, or to sign up for a "drop-in" Laugh and Learn workshop to learn how games and workshops can be used with your team and your company!
